Many of us face trying times, pressures, stresses and uncomfortable situations and as a hairdresser I hear lots of these.
After 20 years of relationships with many of my clients (friends), their troubles often trouble me and we all know how it feels to know the trials and tribulations our ’friends’ face.
For this reason I try not to burden my clients with my issues, yes! I deliver a tantrum, bend their ear or let off steam, however I never display an emotive state about my own troubles.
They don’t escape to the hairdressers to hear it, they want to relax, have a giggle, off load to their ‘Hairapist’ and escape their day to day grind, so when a client returns the question, ‘How are you?’ My reply is always the same...’I’m fine!’, but is it always true?
The answer is, 90% of the time it is, but the last couple of years, for many reasons from training demands to grief, it has been rarely true.
I threw myself into training and extra work load to get through my grief instead of facing it.
For weeks I’d be fine, then I’d trip. This pattern reoccurred several times for months.
Poor sleeping pattern, bad diet, mood swings, darkened days and no vision.
My thoughts were of nothing and it hurt. I had to face it and change my game plan.
I merged my grief with what I was doing and created a positive thought pattern. It hasn’t been easy, obvious or quick.
My rock, my clients, my work and my training gave me a focus, the voice of the person I was grieving for in my mind directed me to now...which now has me back to 90% of the time ‘fine’ I GOT IT TOGETHER!
What ever you are going through, don’t give up, don’t ignore it, don’t do it alone...asking for help isn’t a failure or a weakness, it is survival, strength and future.
You will ‘Get It Together’ ❤️
